
Current Guidlines on Treatment of an Avulsed Permanent Tooth.
Definition of avulsion = total displacement of a tooth out of the socket where the root is not fractured and the tooth is a permanent tooth.
Most common in 7 - 9 year olds.
Management.
- Do not touch the root only handle by the crown
- If clean reimplant immediately.
- If dirty rinse ice cold milk or saline then reimplant.
- If can not implant then store in the child’s mouth between the cheek and the teeth or transport in milk.
- Get to a dentist ASAP.
Try and reimplant within 5 minutes.
Never implant a baby tooth.
